Neck Pain
SpringBack Chiropractic treats neck pain, stiffness, and cervicogenic headaches with Advanced BioStructural Correction and cold laser therapy, addressing the root cause rather than just the symptoms.
Neck Pain in the Modern World
Neck pain has become epidemic. The rise of smartphones, laptop work, and sedentary desk jobs has created an entire generation of people with forward head posture — and for every inch your head shifts forward from its ideal position over your shoulders, the effective weight your cervical spine must support roughly doubles. A head that should weigh 10-12 pounds feels like 40 pounds when it’s positioned just 3 inches forward. Day after day, year after year, the cumulative stress produces muscle strain, disc compression, facet joint irritation, and eventually the chronic neck pain that is now one of the most common complaints we see.
At SpringBack Chiropractic in Surprise, AZ, Dr. Patrick Bain treats neck pain by addressing the structural reality of what’s actually happening in your cervical spine — not simply rubbing or adjusting the painful area.
What’s Really Causing Your Neck Pain
The neck is the most structurally vulnerable region of the spine. The cervical vertebrae support the weight of the head with very little bony locking — they rely almost entirely on muscles and ligaments for stability. When the head shifts forward from postural collapse or injury, the muscles at the back of the neck must contract continuously to prevent the head from falling further forward. This is the primary source of chronic neck tension and muscle pain.
Simultaneously, the forward shift compresses the discs, narrows the facet joints, and can compromise the neural foramina — the openings through which cervical nerve roots exit the spine. Compressed cervical nerve roots refer pain to the shoulders, arms, and hands (cervical radiculopathy) and can cause the headaches that originate at the base of the skull (cervicogenic headaches) that so many neck pain patients also experience.
How SpringBack Chiropractic Treats Neck Pain
Advanced BioStructural Correction: ABC specifically addresses the anterior vertebral misalignments that drive cervical dysfunction and forward head posture. As Dr. Bain corrects these misalignments and releases meningeal tension, the head migrates back over the shoulders — often dramatically and rapidly. Many patients are astonished at how much better they stand after just a few sessions, and the reduction in neck tension follows naturally as the postural foundation is corrected. Traditional rotational cervical adjustments often do not address this mechanism; ABC does.
Cold Laser Therapy: The inflamed muscles, joints, and discs of a chronically compressed cervical spine benefit enormously from Class IV cold laser therapy. Laser treatment reduces inflammation in the facet joints and discs, promotes healing of overstretched ligaments, and helps relax chronically hypertonic neck muscles. For patients with acute neck pain from a new injury or flare-up, laser therapy often provides rapid pain relief while the structural corrections are being established.
Endonasal Correction: The cervical spine and the cranial base are intimately connected. Tension in the upper cervical spine often has a cranial component — compression at the occiput (base of skull) and dysfunction of the upper cervical vertebrae. When this is the case, endonasal correction can dramatically amplify the results of spinal care by decompressing the cranial-cervical junction.
Nutrition Response Testing: Systemic inflammation, often driven by food sensitivities or deficiencies in anti-inflammatory nutrients (omega-3s, magnesium, vitamin D), significantly amplifies pain perception in the cervical spine. NRT identifies and addresses these contributing factors.
Cervicogenic Headaches and Migraines
A significant portion of headaches — particularly those that originate at the base of the skull and radiate forward — have their root cause in the cervical spine. When cervical nerve roots or the greater occipital nerve are compressed by structural dysfunction, they refer pain up into the head in a pattern that can mimic migraine or tension headaches but originates from the neck.
Many patients who have been managing “migraines” for years discover at SpringBack Chiropractic that their headaches are actually cervicogenic — and that structural correction of the cervical spine resolves them far more effectively than migraine medications ever could.
